
Jazmine Laura Sullivan was born and was raised within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam, Jazmine's mother is an ex-backing singer at Philadelphia International Records. Her father offered her a position as curator at the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She together with her family then relocated in to the historic landmark. The year 2005 marks her Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduates who is majoring in vocal music. Sullivan began singing in the children's chorus in the contralto position, before joining the adult choir a few years after that. Sullivan experienced only a small amount of secular music. She recalls that she was in her 11th year when someone was requesting her to sing for solos in church. She wasn't enough yet to be ready. "Then McDonald's offered a competition that was open to kids in cities. It gave me the opportunity to perform Accept The Grace God Gives On Showtime Apollo. My audience was very accommodating." When she was 13 years old, she sang alongside Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age fifteen. She recorded the entire album but the album was never released. Sullivan was later dropped from the label. She had a good working relationship with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced numerous tracks for her and tracks, such as "Backstabbers" and "Backstabbers," which was written by Timbaland.
